Transitioning from bacteria ridden dam water to clean desalinated water has been a game changer for those who work at the Mount Garnet mine site.
How Rowater helped Huntore with their high quality water solutions.
Huntore (formerly MGT) go to great lengths to ensure camp safety and cleanliness for the 25 people who work there. Water comes from a dam that required filtration treatment and regular testing for e-coli and other bacteria. Workers were often worried about dead animals that may have drowned in the dam, as they needed this water for showering and brushing teeth.
The mine site decided to invest in a reverse osmosis (RO) system and went out to the market, receiving multiple quotes. Rowater was selected due to their positive independent reviews, responsiveness and price.
Tamara (Maintenance and Logistics Supervisor) explained that the RO has been a game-changer as it provides a constant source of pure water for the camp, without the need to constantly test the water and buy in bulk water for drinking (at a cost of $2,000 per month). Time-consuming site operations relating to water quality have been alleviated with the RO. The mine has also investigated ways to recycle the wastewater produced by the RO system and are now using it in the camp’s fire suppression system as well as for dust suppression on the haul roads, making the waste product a useful entity.
The workers are also very appreciative of the improved site conditions and the clean, pure drinking water now on tap.
